It's been a while since we did a selection (in fact not since last summer) but once again we've put together our favourite pieces of the season alongside our inspirations which vary from 1960s pop festivals to 19th-century illustrations.
Summer isn't the easiest season to dress for, and if my last flight was any indication, most people have largely given up. All the crimes we're there: 3/4 length shorts, overfilled cargo trousers, oversized t-shirts with pictures of hot places on them "HAWAII", "LAS VEGAS", "IBIZA." You've probably seen them.
There are reasons for optimism. Several trends that are both flattering and practical for the heat this summer are appearing such as the Cuban or camp collar shirt (or less glamorously, the bowling shirt). These breezy mid-century style tops are an elegant alternative to polos or t-shirts. Trousers are wider, but also pleated in a way that makes them a good alternative to shorts which slimmer styles don't allow.
